I have a new ballerina! Any tips on making the perfect ballet bun?
Don’t worry! Soon you will be a ballet bun expert! Start with a high ponytail pulled back nice and tight at the crown of the head. Twist and wrap the hair clockwise pinning the hair down at the base with bobby pins as you go. You can use a hair net from a drugstore or additional bobby pins around the edge along the bottom to keep the bun smooth around the sides. Spray with hairspray! Also, here’s a video link.
Does my tiny dancer need to wear make-up?
Definitely a yes. Everyone should wear at least a light amount of makeup to define facial features under the stage lights. It is very bright on the stage and we want you and our videography to get all of the tiny sparkling smiles in clear focus!
Do I need to buy a ticket for everyone attending?
Spring show seats are reserved and sold by the seat, so it is very important that everyone has a ticket. Don’t worry, there are discounted rates for children under 5 and students!
Do I bring my dancer in her costume on show day?
All dancers should arrive to the theater in regular street clothes. Costumes should be transported in provided garment bags. Dancers will warm-up in their regular classwear and change into costume following their warm-up.
What items do I need to bring for show day?
All dancers should pack costumes, required dance shoes, 2 pairs of tights (check parent info sheet for color), bobby pins, hairspray, and extra lipstick. Dancers do not need to wear their regular class leotard under their costume.
Can my dancer come and sit in the audience with me after they dance?
Teeny, Bitsy, and Mini level dancers will remain backstage in the Land of the Littles until intermission. These dancers can be signed out during intermission or at the end of the show.
What is the Land of the Littles?
The Land of the Littles is a super secret wonderland that is backstage at all MLDC performances. All dancers in the teeny, bitsy, and mini levels will be signed into the land of the littles upon arrival. Each class will have a class assistant to stay with them backstage along with the Queen of the LOL. Dancers will have a blast creating arts and crafts, practicing their dance moves, playing short games, watching a movie, or watching the show with their class assistants.
Can I stay backstage with my dancer?
Unfortunately, only LOL staff members and MLDC dancers are allowed backstage. The magic of the Land of the Littles is only available to dancers under the age of 8, so most of our dance parents have unfortunately aged out of the LOL. Enjoy your time with your family and friends and let us take care of the sparkle. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
